Yamaha RX-V467BL 5.1 Channel 525 Watt AV Receiver (Each, Black)

Question by John-OD: How to tell if your tv is 3d capable?

I have a Baird 42″ LCD, and I’m wondering if it will be capable for 3d games for the PS as well as 3d DVD’s. I have had a look on the internet and it says that your TV doesn’t need to be a 3DTV only 3D Compatible, Therefore will my TV work if I get the 3d goggles and a 3d Blu-Ray player/ or PS (which i already have). Thanks.

It is not 3D compatible, there are only 6 TVs that are and they are either Sony, Mitsubishi, and Samsung.

Answer by Tony R
Right now I don’t know of any movies that are out for non red and blue 3d viewing on television. Nvidia has the software and the glasses etc. for 3d pc games. You already have the tv to handle the refresh rate for 3d but you will also need:

1. GeForce 8 series, GeForce 9 series, or GeForce GTX 200 series GPU (Graphics processing unit)

2. Windows Vista

3. Intel or AMD daul-core CPU (central processing unit)

4. 1GB or higher of memory

5. 3D shutter glasses

Onkyo HT-S3300 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver and Speaker Package (Black)

Question by Sad Larry (Some Loser With Hair): How is a 3D TV different from an HDTV if you still need to wear those glasses?

I mean there’s going to be a gaming device called the 3DS (Nintendo) that has a 3D screen that doesn’t require glasses

Best answer:

Answer by Tony R
There are tvs that don’t require glasses to do 3d. Right now no tv company is selling them for home use but you can sometimes find them in stores and other businesses being used for advertising and such. If you have ever seen the cover to the Final destination 3d movie on dvd it looks like the face on the cover pops out in front of cover. Sometimes post cards or baseball cards have 3d covers that you can see 3d without glasses. Anyway the tv screen works like those. Half the pixels of the screen angle to the left and go only into your left eye and the other half angle to the right and only go into your right eye. Other 3d tvs that don’t have this special screen must use glasses so each eye only sees one of two pictures at a time.
